From the Practical to the Strange: Products That Contain Tea

Most of us are familiar with sections at our grocery store that are devoted to products that contain tea extract (typical green tea).  There is ’real brewed’ iced tea, tea enhanced water beverages, and the plethora of multi-vitamins and weight loss pills that contain EGC.

But what about those other products that contain tea? The ones that we typically don’t see on our shelves, pay little attention to, are in development, or are not readily available locally?

Green Tea Soba Noodles

Made from buckwheat and infused with Matcha (powdered Green Tea) this noodle combination is an excellent source of protein, low-cal, and can be served both hot or cold.

Under Eye Treatment

This product claims to “instantly make skin under eyes look and feel unbelievably smooth…”. White tea is loaded with antioxidants and this moisture treatment is oozing with it (or so they say) as it contains silver tip white tea. I have a better idea: Why not enjoy a nice cup of silver tip white tea and chill the leaves afterwards- they make excellent cold packs.

Rock Hard Nails

Strengthen Your Nails

Yes now you too can have impenetrable nails of steel. Nutranail contains green tea extract which the company claims helps (via its antioxidant properties) to lessen the effects that free radicals can have on nail deterioration.

Popcorn! Peanuts! Green Tea Pumpkin Seeds!?

Next time you have a salty snack craving why not reach for some green tea pumpkin seeds? These seeds have been salted, roasted and dusted with green tea powder and are available at TenRen.

A Bottle Of Bubbly…Green Tea Soda

Steaz Soda

I’ve seen quite a few varieties of green tea concoctions at the local grocery store, but never carbonated. Whats more is that these bottles come in organic flavours such as Cola, Grape, Raspberry, Orange, and Lemon Dew.

Have a Break-

Green Tea Kit Kat

How about breaking off a piece of this white chocolate and green tea infused KitKat? This concoction is available now on the streets of Hong Kong. No word if this is headed our way anytime soon.

Remember Pocky?

Pocky

Wow do I ever! I used to have more Pocky than even my Japanese friend growing up. Recently I had the chance to rediscover Pocky, and to my amazement found multiple Pocky offspring such as almond crushed, white chocolate, strawberry, and yes even green tea flavoured Pocky. Yum!

The Taste is Gonna Move Ya

Green Tea Gum

Now whether or not that is a good thing is entirely up to personal interpretation.   I’ve heard some not-so-nice things about tea infused gum out there with inferior ones breaking apart, or loosing taste after only seconds.  Some are bearable, but the majority are inferior yet claim to have the same antioxidant properties as one or two cups of tea.

So that’s it for now, but I’ll be sure to post anything else I find strange or tempting.  As well, If you’ve got some of your own that you have found please let me know!
